The RED XG-1290 is the workhorse among SRAMs X-RANGEâ„¢ cassettes and shifts not only fast, but also smoothly through its wide gear ratio range. The 12-speed cassette was developed specifically for the requirements of the electronic eTap AXS wireless shifting systems and offers the greatest possible weight savings through its elaborate, one-piece design. It works perfectly in conjunction with the Flattop® chain of the RED series and SRAM’s eTap AXS front derailleur components.
Features of the SRAM RED XG-1290 cassette
- revised construction for smoother and faster shifting
- X-DOMEâ„¢ design with a very lightweight sprocket set milled from a steel block
- progressive gear graduation (at least five gear jumps with only one tooth)
- small sprocket with 10 teeth to extend the gear range
- compatible with XDR freewheels
Only suitable for use with Flattop® chains.
To meet the diverse applications of modern road cycling, it requires a drivetrain system that offers the right gear in every situation. Since shifting operations at the rear derailleur are inherently more efficient than at the chainring, X-RANGEâ„¢ shifts some of the gear range from front to rear. While a smaller, uniform difference of always 13 teeth is applied between the chainrings, the cassettes can come up with a larger transmission range of up to 360 %.
The one-piece design of the X-DOMEâ„¢ technology creates incredibly light, precise and robust cassettes. The open design not only repels dirt better, it also gives the component a longer life and smoother shifting performance.
- sprocket unit: tool steel (heat treated).
- large sprocket: aluminum (heat treated, hardened)
- elastomer rings
cassette incl. lock ring
For packaging reasons, the small sprocket may be on the back of the cassette.
